The People Behind the Product
25 years strong.
One vision.
Shane Breen and LeVar Thomas have been partners in life for 25 years — and everything about Silly Nice flows from that shared foundation. A genuine obsession with doing things the right way, a love of cannabis that runs deep, and a belief that New York deserves better.
As a Black-owned, Veteran-owned, and LGBTQ+-owned brand, Silly Nice carries those identities proudly — not as marketing labels, but as the real story of who we are and how we built this.
Find Silly Nice Near You →Honestly? We just wanted to make something we were proud of.
Silly Nice started as a dream we've been quietly building toward for a long time. Two people who love cannabis, love New York, and care a lot about doing things the right way. No grand manifesto. No big vision board. Just a genuine belief that people deserve better than what was showing up on most dispensary shelves.
We both grew up in families with deep roots in the U.S. military. That upbringing shaped everything about how we move. Discipline, integrity, showing up, doing the work. One of us served in the Army directly. Both of us carry that military family ethos in everything we do. You'll see it in the product if you pay attention.
Our connection to cannabis goes back further than we can really explain. Before it was legal, before it was trendy, before anyone was designing beautiful jars for it. It was medicine first. It helped one of us get through the hard days after service, when the body wasn't cooperating and the standard options weren't cutting it. We just stayed quiet about it, stayed grateful, and kept learning.
In 2002 we made it to Amsterdam. We went to learn, not to party. And what we found there genuinely moved us. The care, the culture, the way people talked about cannabis like it was something worth understanding. We've gone back every year since. It never gets old.
Cannabis has always been part of our family.
Our grandmother used cannabis balms for her pain. Quietly, without making it a thing, because it helped. Our mother uses it today to sleep and to feel like herself. For us it has never been rebellious or edgy. It has just always been part of life. So when New York opened the doors to legal recreational cannabis, it felt like finally.
We could not have done this without some truly amazing people.
We want to be real about this: building a cannabis brand in New York from the ground up is hard. The licensing alone can break you. What made it possible for us was our partnership with Veterans Holdings, an Inc 5000 Veteran-owned cannabis processor right here in New York. We are so grateful for them.
Veterans Holdings is the team behind incredible New York brands like Spacebuds Moonrocks, NY Honey, and Pot & Head. They are talented, they are principled, and they treated our little dream like it mattered. They brought Silly Nice to life in ways we couldn't have done on our own. We say this with full sincerity: we are lucky they exist and even luckier they said yes.
Every product in our lineup exists because of that collaboration. A Black-owned brand working alongside a Veteran-owned processor. Both independent. Both New York. Both caring a lot about what goes in the jar. We think that combination shows.
Small-batch is not marketing language for us. It is just how we operate. Everything is made fresh to order. If something isn't right, it doesn't go out. Simple as that. We're not trying to impress anyone with volume. We'd rather impress you with quality.
We made this for people who actually care.
For the person who reads the whole label. For the New Yorker who has tried enough mediocre cannabis to know the difference. For whoever is brand new to this and deserves a genuinely good first experience. For the veteran who found comfort in the plant long before society caught up. We think about all of you when we make stuff.
We are a small team. We are still figuring things out. But we care deeply, we work with people we trust, and we put our name on everything we make. That means something to us. We hope it means something to you too.
Welcome to Silly Nice. Really glad you're here.
What We Stand For
The pillars of Silly Nice
Black-Owned
Built independently, with intention. The culture, the hustle, the standard — it's baked into every product we put our name on.
Veteran-Owned
Founded through service and real experience with the plant. Cannabis helped us heal — long before it was socially acceptable to say so.
Made in New York
Grown Upstate. Distributed statewide. The entire supply chain stays right here, from cultivation to dispensary shelf.
LGBTQ+-Owned
We carry our identity proudly — not as a label but as lived reality. This brand was built by real people with a real story.
1,500+ lbs of ocean plastic diverted. And counting.
Recycled glass jars · Ocean-bound plastic lids · Hemp boxes · American-made.
A love letter
New York, We Love You.
New York gave us the culture, the hunger, the standard. Upstate gave us the land, the climate, and the space to grow something real. Every product we make carries both.
If you're someone who gives a damn about what you put in your body — we made this for you. Grown in New York. Made in New York. Carried by the dispensaries across the state that care enough to carry us.
